TURKEY’S ELECTION OUTCOME: A TRIUMPH FOR ISLAMISM?
The real significance of the impressive electoral victory of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Turkish elections has been widely misunderstood. The ‘Islamisation’ of Turkish politics and society is not a central feature of the AKP’s political programme.
