Born in 1964, Muhammad Habibur-Rahman has been living in the UK since
1975. He has a Masters degree in Computer Science and joined the City of
London Polytechnic (later transformed into the London Guildhall University and
then to London Metropolitan University) in 1990 as a lecturer in Information
Technology. Habibur-Rahman is an academic leader at London Metropolitan University.
Habibur-Rahman was formerly the President of Young Muslim Organisation UK – one of the oldest national youth organisations in Britain. He was also a key figure behind the establishment of Western Europe’s largest Muslim centre, the London Muslim Centre which is a project of The East London Mosque, established in 1910. Habibur-Rahman is a Vice Chairman of the Centre and the Mosque.
He is currently the Central President of Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE) – a large Muslim community organization engaged in contributing positively to society whilst upholding Islamic values and practice. The organisation has branches throughout Europe and works closely with mainstream organisations engaged in socio-political and educational activities. |
